Welcome to my website, and thanks for reading!

this is Antonella, an Italian psychologist who has lived in London since 2014.

I was born in 1982 in a little village in the Italian Alps, in a close catholic community. Coming from a little catholic community to a metropolis was a shock, but also an opportunity to learn and widen my horizon. In the therapy room, I bring the simplicity of my roots, compassion for human suffering and curiosity for the stories emerging from our encounter. I privilege  a dialogical approach based on mutual respect and  always focused on client's needs, in a safe and non judgemental space.

I believe going to therapy can be an anxiety provoking experience and certainly it was for me when I need support with my mental health! But I also know that having someone who genuinely care and wants to help, makes a huge difference when facing adversities. I hope to be that person for you :)

A Bit About Me

Since I have obtained my clinical psychology doctorate in 2010, I have acquired extensive experience in supporting individuals, couples and families battling with their mental health, especially in the area of trauma, personality disorders, bipolar disorders and psychosis. Both in the public and the private sector I have engaged with people trying to cope with the emotional distress of the illness, whilst also facing under-resourced mental health services. The struggles they have experience has been met with the frustration of not being able to offer the best support while working in the constriction of the national health system. As I am passionate for my profession and I care about people, I have decided to start my own practice where I can dedicate the necessary time and skills to accompany who need my support instead of investing precious resources in administrative tasks.

In the last few years, I have developed a particular interest, and therefore gained further training in treating complex trauma and related conditions like severe anxiety, persistent depression with low self esteem, flashback and difficulties in trusting others, chronic pain and exacerbation of physical health conditions. I have also explored the connection between adverse life experiences, especially in early years, and the development of serious mental health difficulties in adult life, such as psychosis, bipolar disorder and personality disorder.

In my daily practice, I meet people who seek psychological support for various reasons. They might experience symptoms that are frightening and out of control and need someone to help them make sense of it; they might feel stuck in their life journey, dealing with a breakup in a relationship or burnout in the workplace. They might experience identity crisis or struggling with their social relationship. Sometime people face years of struggle before reaching the point that they take the courage to ask for help, maybe because they think what they are going through "is not that serious, others feel worst". Sometimes is better to check in with someone who can give you a different outlook on what is going on for you, and this might prevent exacerbation of your difficulties. Remember:

Anything that impacts yourwell-being, is worth discussing!
